WAVERLY — Jean Evelyn Jones, 82, of Nevada, formerly of Waverly, died at home Sunday, June 9, from complications of cancer.

She was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Waverly, daughter of Claude and Mamie Kratchmer Wylam. She married Bob Jones on Feb. 16, 1950, in Waverly. He died in 1978.

She graduated from Waverly High School in 1948. After graduating she worked for Lutheran Mutual Insurance, Waverly. In 1964, she went to work for Carnation, Waverly, where she worked for 31 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Nevada.

Survived by: two daughters, Diane (Steven) Flournoy of Richmond, Va., and Debra Jones of Nevada; a son, Doug of Nevada; six grandchildren, Sean Flournoy, Todd Flournoy, Colin Jones, Dana Cornish, Evan Jones and Emily Jones; six great-grandchildren, Harrison Hart, Larrissa Flournoy, Kymberli Jones, Caleb Jones, Kylie Jones and Madeline Cornish; a sister, Davidene Litterer of Waverly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: her parents; and two brothers, LaVerne and Duane Wylam.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.

Memorials: may be directed to Mainstream Living, Ames, or Homeward Hospice through Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames.

Jean’s enjoyments included fishing trips to Minnesota, bowling, golfing, needlepoint, and arts and crafts. What she enjoyed most, however, was her family, especially her grandchildren, attending many of their sporting events.
