SUMNER — Ralph W. Hoth, 90, of Sumner, died Wednesday, June 26, at Hillcrest Home.

He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in rural Sumner, son of Alvin John and Anna Sarah Schumacher Hoth. He married Betty Roswag on Jan. 31, 1954, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Mason City.

He received his education in the rural Bremer County Schools, then worked with his father on the family farm. After marriage he farmed southwest of Sumner. In March 1961, he established his farm northwest of Sumner doing general farming. Later, he certified his Poland China swine herd and sold hogs to farmers in northeastern Iowa. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner.

Survived by: his wife; two sisters, Ruth Weber of Bettendorf and Marilyn (Ralph) Gordon of Cheshire, Ore.; and a brother, Larry (Marilee) of Euless, Texas.

Preceded in death by: his parents; his stepmother, Agnes Huebner Hoth; a brother, Lyle; and a brother-in-law, Herbert Weber.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, both in Sumner. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the Hillcrest Home or St. John Lutheran Church, both in Sumner, or to Iowa Hospice, 626 Commercial St., Waterloo 50701.
