WAVERLY -- Calvin F. Folkers, 79, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Waverly, died at home Sept. 16 from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

He was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Allison, son of Herb and Sylva Bird Folkers.

Mr. Folkers graduated from Allison High School in 1951; attended Coe and Wartburg colleges; and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army in Augsburg, Germany. He worked in sales for many years, including selling real estate in the Cedar Valley and many years of selling fire alarm systems in Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas.

Survived by: his wife, Karoll; a daughter, Kimberly Folkers (Bruce Ecker) of Waverly; a son, Scott (Dana) of Garner; and two grandsons, Tim and Jake, both of Garner.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Don.

Private Celebration of Life: was held by his family.

Memorials: may be directed to the family for the Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma or Valir Hospice of Oklahoma City.

He was an avid golfer and won the Waverly Country Club Calcutta tournament in 1980. He enjoyed visiting Waverly over the years to spend time with family and friends, and to participate in Wartburg Homecoming events.
