Dorothy Beatrice Card, 92, of Waverly, died Thursday, Sept. 26, at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly.

She was born July 22, 1921, in Kirksville, Mo., daughter of Ernest Leroy and Sophia Gracie Lawson Spurgeon, and after the death of her mother when she was 15 months old, was raised by her father and stepmother, Sylvia Esther Cordelia Adney Spurgeon. She married Glenn Arthur Card on Feb. 6, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage, Mason City; he died Jan. 15, 2006.

Survived by: three sons, Dale of Waverly, Jim (Robin) of Middleton, Idaho, and Gene (Linn) of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a half sister, Lorilla (Don) Schultz of Kingsport, Tenn.; a half brother, Jay Spurgeon of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Verlaine Spurgeon of Boxholm.

Preceded in death: her parents; her stepmother; two brothers, Ernest Leroy Spurgeon in infancy and Dallas Edward Spurgeon; a sister, Waneta May Cory; a half brother, Delbert Spurgeon; a sister-in-law, Betty Spurgeon; and a granddaughter.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
