OELWEIN -- June Marie Ives, 79, of Oelwein, died Oct. 3, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, following a short illness.

She was born June 23, 1934, in Tripoli, daughter of Arthur and Ada Whitman Lau. On April 7, 1956, she married Ronald Ives in Galena, Ill., and they later divorced.

Mrs. Ives was a housemother at ARC in Oelwein, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Oelwein.

Survived by: five sons, Steven of Des Moines, Scott (Sally) of Oelwein, Richard (Beth) of Rapid City, S.D., Randall (Ronda) of Grinnell and Michael (Michelle) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Sheila (David) Simon of Hawkeye; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters, Melva Walsh and Wilma Wydeven; and a brother, Henry Lau.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Rettig Funeral Chapel, Tripoli, with burial in Faith Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Tripoli. Visitation will be for an hour before services Monday at the chapel.
