Carolyn (Droste) Redies, 75, of Frederika, Iowa, died early Sunday morning, August 5, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, following complications from surgery.

Carolyn was born on May 13, 1937, in Denver, Iowa the daughter of Warner and Florine (Moeller) Droste. She was baptized on June 20, 1937 and confirmed on March 18, 1951 at St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church in Denver, Iowa. Carolyn graduated from Denver High School on May 13, 1954.

Following her schooling she worked at Waterloo Abstract Company in Waterloo. On February 12, 1956, she was united in marriage to Eugene Ernest Redies at St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church in Denver. The couple made their home in rural Frederika where they raised their family. Eugene died on May 7, 2009, and Carolyn continued to make her home in Frederika. She was employed at the Frederika Tap for many years.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Congregation in Tripoli. In her spare time Carolyn enjoyed playing cards, bowling, boating and outings at the river, and was an avid reader. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her four daughters, four sons and their spouses; Melodie (Jack Smith) Redies of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Deesa (Jim Lessman) Gaetzke of Parkersburg, Radene (Mike) Coughlon of Des Moines, Lesley (Darrol) Mohlis of Sumner; Todd (Pam) Redies of Tripoli, Brett (Shari) Redies of Boone, Darin (Tammy) Redies of Waverly, Kyle (Kristin) Redies of Des Moines; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Brase of Frederika; brother, Allen Droste of Denver; a sister-in-law, Peggy Brekke of Loveland, Colorado; and 10 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; a brother, David Droste; a brother-in-law, Jerry Brase; and a nephew, Tim Brase.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. St. Paul Lutheran Congregation Church in Tripoli, with Betty Schmudlach officiating. Burial will be held in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery – Siegel. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
