SHIPP, BRADER, TRUMPOWER

JAMES L. SHIPP was born in Franklin county, Pennsylvania, August 30, 1891. He passed away at his home two miles west of Plainfield, Iowa, December 30, 1914, being 23 years and 4 months of age.

The year of 1900 he moved with his parents from Pennsylvania to a farm in Bremer county two miles north of Horton. He remained there until 1906, which year he resided at Belgrade, Minn., returning the following year to the farm north of Horton where he lived until his marriage.

October 3, 1912 he was united in marriage to Miss Georgia BRADER of Dixon, Ill. The first year after they were married they resided on a farm two miles north of Horton and the next year on a farm two miles west of Plainfield with the exception of 3 months which he was proprietor of a restaurant in Plainfield.

To this union was born one son, Francis J. which is now a little over one year of age.

Mr. Shipp is survived by his young bride of a little over two years and his young son, also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David H. SHIPP of Six Mile Grove, six brothers, William H. of Waterloo, Iowa, Gay E. of Horton, Ether A. of Earle, Harry and Russell, also two sisters, Daisy and Nellie all of which are still at the home at Six Mile Grove. Five brothers and one sister have proceeded him in death in their infancy.

About four weeks ago, Mr. SHIPP was taken sick. At first it was thought that he had just taken a severe cold, but later it developed into typhoid in its worst form. Still hopes of his recovery were maintained until last Sunday night, when a decided change for the worse took place, and on Wednesday evening at 6:15 o'clock death relieved him of his suffering.

Mr. SHIPP has developed from boyhood to manhood in this vicinity and he has been held in high esteem by all who knew him. A youth of unquestionable character, industrious and full of life and vigor and is going to be greatly missed by a large number of friends and acquaintances who extend their sympathy to the bereaved family and other relatives.

Those from away to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William SHIPP of Waterloo and Mr. and Mrs. Louis TRUMPOWER and family of Waverly, Iowa.

The funeral services were held at the residence Saturday morning, January 2nd at 10:00 o'clock and at the Methodist Episcopal church at Plainfield at 11:00 o'clock. Rev. F. C. Hillman in charge. The sermon was preached by Rev. Drumm of the Baptist church of Horton. The remains were laid to rest in the Plainfield cemetery.
