MEMORIAL
Geo. W. Madden died Wednesday, June 5th, 1889, at his residence five miles west and one mile south of Sumner. He was born in Hampshire Co., West Va., on the 4th day of July, 1827, making his age at his death 61 years, 11 months and 1 day. He leaves a wife, 14 children, and a number of other relatives to mourn his loss. Bro. Madden was converted to God under the labors of Bishop Markwood in the year 1845 united with the United Brethren church and lived a faithful consistent Christian life until death. The church sustains a great loss in the death of this dear brother, especially is this true with the Bremer Center Class. He will be missed there as he was always in his place in every good word and work, but our loss is his eternal gain. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to the cemetery. The funeral service was preached in the Fay school house by the preacher in charge, taking for his text the thirteenth verse of the fourteenth of Revelation.
