Tripoli Man, 84, Dies After Long Illness

TRIPOLI — Herman Heinrich Wilhelm Biermann Sr., 84, died at his home in Tripoli Sunday evening, following a lingering illness.

He was born in Cook County, Il., Feb. 6, 1870, the son of Fredrick and Christina (Bergmann) Biermann and was baptized in the Evangelical church there.

He moved to Douglas township near Siegel, Iowa, with his parents at the age of six and was confirmed at St. John's church in Siegel, where he was also married on Dec. 26, 1894, to Minnie Propp.

The couple farmed six years in Fremont township and then returned to the farm in Douglas township where they remained until 1919 when they retired to Tripoli.

They observed their golden wedding anniversary Dec. 26, 1944.

Mr. Biermann is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Ernest Brase, Waverly; Mrs. Louis Segebarth, Waterloo; Mrs. Fred Brase, Tripoli; one son Edwin, Tripoli, one brother, Carl, Tripoli; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Tripoli. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
