Sara Ann Rohde, 97, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2003 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community of natural causes.

Sara was born on April 6, 1906, the daughter of Thomas and Katherine (Palmer) Fitzpatrick in Grundy County. She attended country school and graduated from Parkersburg High School. She taught country school for one year. Sara then attended nursing training in Mason City, Iowa. She was a nurse at Waverly Hospital for several years as a surgical nurse.

On November 19, 1938, she was united in marriage to Michael J. Rohde at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly, Iowa. She enjoyed doing crafts, making ceramics at Mitchell Manor, reading and visiting with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the CCW.

Survivors are her sister, Evelyn Fitzpatrick and brother, Cecil Fitzpatrick both of Waverly, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Fitzpatrick and Eleanor Fitzpatrick both of Waverly, Iowa; brother-in-law, Al Traphofner of Fountain Valley, California and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael on July 12, 1977; three sisters, Vera Flynn, Wilma Robinson and Imogene Traphofner; two brothers, Vern and Wayne Fitzpatrick.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2003 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly, Iowa with Rev. Mike Tauke presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Waverly, Iowa. Friends may call form 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at the Good Shepherd Chapel at Bartels and after 5:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa with a Scripture Service at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice
