Vera Rebecca Allen Brozo, 93, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2002, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community of natural causes.

Vera was born on June 19, 1909, south of LaPorte City, Iowa, the second daughter of Daniel J. and Inez (Harmon) Miller. She attended rural school in Benton County, Iowa, and graduated from West High School in Waterloo, Iowa. She then graduated from a Commercial Course at a Waterloo Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Smith-Lichty Hillman Company in Waterloo, Iowa.

Vera was united in marriage to Harry L. Allen on November 10, 1934. They made their home in Waterloo, and Vera worked as a bookkeeper for Artificial Ice & Fuel. The couple moved to Albuquerque, NM. Harry passed away on November 21, 1950. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Sproul Construction Company, in Albuquerque, and also as a bookkeeper for K.L. House Construction Company, Inc., in Albuquerque, for many years, retiring on March 4, 1985, as secretary-treasurer in the Company.

On October 27, 1962, she was united in marriage to Joseph F. Brozo in Albuquerque. Joseph passed away on July 25, 1985. In October of 1985, Vera moved to Waverly to live with her sister, Reba M. Pothast. In July of 1999, both Vera and Reba moved to Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community.

She was an associate member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Waverly, a charter member of Trinity Methodist Church in Albuquerque, NM, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over sixty years.

Survivors are her sister, Reba, of Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly, Iowa; two nieces, Janet McClain and her husband, Donald, of Iowa City, Iowa, and Mary Kay Miller and her husband, Robert, of Waterloo, Iowa; several great nieces and nephews; a step son, Joseph F. Brozo, Jr. and his wife, Maxine, of Wolfforth, Texas; by 5 step grandchildren; 17 step great grandchildren; 18 step great great grandchildren; and a former daughter-in-law, Ruth Brozo of Wolfforth, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harry L. Allen and Joseph F. Brozo; one sister, Jean M. Abernathey; and a niece in infancy.

Funeral services will held on Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at 11:00 am at the Good Shepherd Chapel, Bartels, with Pastor Keith Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Friends may call from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the Good Shepherd Chapel, Bartels, on Wednesday, August 21, 2002. Memorials may be given to the Cedar Bend Humane Society, 1166 W. Airline Highway, Waterloo, Iowa 50703, or to Animal Humane Association of NM, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87108. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home of Waverly, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. 352-1187
