Eleanor L. Sayers, 86, of Waverly, Iowa, died on October 10, 2003, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community of natural causes.

Eleanor was born on December 30, 1916, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Wilhelmina (Reichold) Meyer. She was raised and attended school in the Chicago area. On November 24, 1937, Eleanor was united in marriage to John E. Sayers in Chicago. The couple lived in Chicago until moving to Oak Lawn, Illinois in 1950. Eleanor worked as a medical secretary until the early 1980's when she and John retired. In 1987, they moved to Waverly, Iowa to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Dave Sage. John passed away on August 26, 1994. Eleanor remained living at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community - Eichhorn Haus after his death.

Eleanor is survived by one daughter and her spouse, Diane and Dave Sage of Waverly, Iowa; two daughters-in-law, Susan Sayers of Crown Point, Indiana and Janet Sayers of Orland Park, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Bruce Edward Sayers and Gary Robert Sayers; and two brothers, Harold Edward Meyer and Arthur Kriedemann.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, October 13, 2003, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community - Eichhorn Haus Dining Room with Pastor Keith Tomlinson officiating. There will be no visitation, her body was cremated. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements. 319-352-1187
