Roy Rathbone

Roy Rathbone, 73, died Saturday, June 18, at 9:30 in the Sumner hospital where he had been hospitalized since May 3 following a heart attack. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 21, at Milnes Funeral Home, with burial at Union Mound cemetery.

The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rathbone, he was born at Sumner, attended the Sumner school and employed at the Reimler-Granne-G---- (? hard to read) store. Later he went to Allison where he operated a grocery store for 15 years. He married Miss Edith Flood at Allison Nov. 20, 1911. The couple later moved to Sumner where they farmed.

Survivors include eight children, six daughters, Mrs. Leonard Jarchow, Mrs. Ernest Schedtler, Sumner; Mrs. Claude Campbell, Sidney, Nebr.; Mrs. Harrey Nielson, Mrs. William Levey, Waterloo; Mrs. Lyle Bowers, New Hampton; two sons, Albert, Fredericksburg and Robert, Tripoli; 25-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Cecil Woodbury, Kenosha, Wis. and Mrs. Arthur Lagerval(?), Rochester, Minn.; and three brothers Oral, New Hartford, Lyle, Havra, Mont.(?); Ross, Evanston, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers, Paul and Lyle.
