ALBERT RATHBONE

Sumner -- Albert Rathbone, age 46, died early Tuesday at the Sumner hospital. He had been in ill health for some time.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. John American Lutheran church with burial in Union Mound cemetery. Rev. John Mohr officiated and Milnes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Military rites by the Thomas E. Woods Post American Legion.

The son of the late Roy and Edith Flood Rathbone, he was born in Allison, August 13, 1917, and came to a farm near Sumner with his parents.

He married Ruth Schrader November 22, 1941 and the couple farmed near Sumner until 1961 when they moved to Sumner where he was employed by the city. He was a World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, two sons, Ronald and Gary, Sumner; a brother Robert, Tripoli; six sisters, Mrs. Leonard Jarchow, Mrs. Ernest Schedtler, Sumner, Mrs. Lyle Bowers, New Hampton, Mrs. Harry Neilson, Mrs. Will Levey, Waterloo and Mrs. Claude Campbell, Sidney, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents.
