Glen L. Ketels, 81, formerly of Sumner, Fredericka, Tripoli and Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan 8, at New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Hampton.

He was born March 21, 1929, in rural Alpha, son of Peter and Christina Lohmann Ketels.

Mr. Ketels attended rural Alpha schools and was a U.S. Army corporal and Korean War veteran. He worked for Deere & Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1988.

Survived by two nephews, James (Mary) and Jerry (Deb) Ketels, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Kammeyer and Irene Leistikow and a brother, Leslie.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul;s Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg, with burial in Union Mound Cemetery, Sumner. Military rites will be provided by Thomas E. Woods American Legion Post 223 of Sumner. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
