Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, for Louie W.D. Braun, 92, of Sumner, who died Friday morning, July 11, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home, of natural causes.

There were 11:00 a.m. services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Artesian, rural Waverly, with Pastor Keith A. Brustuen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver, was in charge of arrangements.

Louie was born in rural Bremer County on Jan. 29, 1905, the son of Louis H. Braun and Sophie (Steege) Braun. He was baptized on Feb. 19, 1905, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Artesian and later confirmed on April 13, 1919, at St. John's Lutheran Church - Spring Fountain.

He served as a farmhand in the Bremer County area until 1965 when he became a resident of the Bremer County Care Facility. In 1994, he moved to the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Sumner.

Louise (sic) was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Artesian.

Survivors include two sisters, Martha Kuepker, Fredericksburg and Esther Nordbrock, Waterloo; several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ed and Fred Braun; and one sister, Clara Guhlow.
