I am researching this family also. Would appreciate any information you could share.

The last information I found about Lafe Wagner is in a LaSalle, IL 1930 city directory. He was living with his daughter, Gladys Wagner Hawthorne and supposedly her two young children, Virginia and Doris (under one year old). It was right before Gladys married George W. Sledgister in LaSalle, IL. After 1930 Gladys shows up as a Sledgister. Information found on ancestry.com website.

Hope this helps. I can try to find out if he stayed and was buried there.
