Theresa Rosella Morgan Carlson, 85, of Boone, passed away at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone on April 13 due to complications of cancer. She had been a resident at the Eastern Star Masonic Home since March of this year. Services were held April 16 at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Father Clem Currans officiating. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.

Theresa Rosella Morgan Carlson was born July 28, 1917 in Boone, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Wellers) Morgan. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Boone in 1935. On May 5, 1936, she married Renold (Andy) Carlson at Papillion, Neb.

She enjoyed work as a clerk and typist for county and state government agencies. She loved intellectual and athletic competition including playing cards, playing competitive softball until age 51 and bowling competitively until age 84. Theresa loved her family.

She was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andy in April 1984; three brothers, John Morgan, Kenneth Morgan and Jim Morgan; one sister, Mable Kelly; and one grandson, Chad Carlson.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Carlson and his wife Barbara of Spring Lake Park, Minn., David Carlson of Boone, and Gayle Carlson and his wife Lillian of Boone; nine grandchildren, Troy Carlson and his wife Karen, Trisha Melton and her husband Troy, Damian Carlson and his wife Stacey, Eric Carlson and his wife Gail of Boone, Emily Carlson of East Lansing, Mich., Bryce Carlson of Ames, Joshua Eastcott of Boone, Cale Carlson of Oskaloosa, and Nicole Carlson of Ogden; eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Rose Carlson, Cassie Lee Mortensen, Trey Gabriel Melton, Tristan Lee Melton, Brendon Leo Carlson, Madalynn Rose Carlson, Sadie Carlson, Max Carlson; one brother, Emmet Morgan and his wife Irma of Boone; and three sisters, Gladys Braddock, Geneva May and Dorothy Overland, all of Boone.

Memorials may be given to the Church of the Sacred Heart.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone was in charge of the arrangements.
