Obituary
Henry ‘Wes’ Catron, 88, of Boone died of a heart attack Thursday at Evangelical Free Church Home there. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Altoona Funeral Home in Altoona, with burial at Clay Township Cemetery there.
Mr. Catron was born in Hepler, Kan., and had lived in Milo, Mo., before moving to Boone in 1991. He had been a farmer and a carpenter and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Indianola and had been a volunteer foster grandparent. He had served as a volunteer firefighter and enjoyed gardening and flowers.
He is survived by two daughters, Marilynn Norris of Boone and Marie Whitely of Taylor, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Catherine Hoffman of Des Moines; a sister, Roberta Uwe of California; 17 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Vera and Erma.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to help purchase a defibrillator for the Boone Fire Department
