HARLEY AND MARY MOORE
After a week's hospital stay at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, Iowa (Harley on 2nd floor, Mary on 5th floor), both entered the Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, Iowa on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011. Harley Moore passed on Feb. 23 and Mary Moore the following day Feb. 24.
Harley was born June 2, 1918 on the family farm in rural Sheldahl. He farmed the Century Farm until retiring in 1985. Mary was born Jan. 4, 1918 in Colfax, Iowa. She taught at various country schools before teaching at Sheldahl and North Polk. Mary retired from teaching after 33 years in 1981.
Harley and Mary were married Aug. 29, 1941. They were members of Alleman United Church of Christ for 69 years. They enjoyed ballroom dancing at Lake Robbins, travels to Las Vegas and Ridgecrest, California, bus trips after retirement, the neighborhood card club, spending time with family and friends and they especially enjoyed their grandchildren, Nicole and Chad and also their great-grandchildren, Jack and Adrianna.
They are survived by their son, Terry Moore (Connie) of Ridgecrest, California; daughter, Becky Janovick (James) of Madrid, Iowa; granddaughter, Nicole Janovick of Savoy, Illinois; grandson, Chad Janovick (Angie) of Springhill, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Jack and Adrianna Janovick and Mary's three surviving sisters, Emma, Vicki and Till; also numerous nieces and nephews for both Mary and Harley.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at the Alleman United Church of Christ with family greeting friends one hour prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made to Alleman United Church of Christ, Madrid Home Communities or Ames Israel Hospice House.
