JOSEPH JACKOVICH
Joseph Jackovich, 94, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Wesley Acres Retirement Community surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 12, 1916 to Albert and Amelia (Radosovich) Jackovich in Scandia, Iowa.
Joseph grew up in Madrid and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps as a young man. He retired from the U.S. Post Office after 30 years of service and most recently worked at United Federal Savings. Joseph always enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and reading the newspaper everyday. Later in life he began to read western novels.
Joseph is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Dorothy; children, Marianne (Bob) Early, and Michael (Claudia) Jackovich; grandchildren, Patrick Early, Kevin (Heidi) Early, Michelle (Adam) Fetters, and Kate (Brad) Crookshank; great-grandchildren, Cora, Sean, Meagan and Payton; sister Velma Olsen; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Johnny, Mike and Larry Jackovich; and sister, Anne Jackovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, April 29 at All Saints Catholic Church with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Madrid.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Acres Retirement Community of All Saints Catholic Church in loving memory of Joseph.
