Norma Jean Wallace, 77, of Dubuque, Iowa formerly of Madrid Iowa, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque.

Visitation was from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque, Iowa. Services were at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home with Rev. David Pacholke officiating.

She was born on June 24, 1933, in Zookspur Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Nettie (Lawson) Magnani. She was raised and educated in the Madrid Iowa area. She married Richard Wallace on Aug. 1, 1953, in Missouri, the following day Richard was deployed to Japan and then off to Korea.

Norma came from a large family of 17 brothers and sisters and enjoyed caring for her family and grandchildren. She worked at the Madrid K-12 School and later at Bryant School in Dubuque as an Associate for over 20 years. She was an avid reader of novels in general and loved to cook and bake in her spare time. She enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeye Football and Basketball teams and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

Surviving are her husband, Richard Wallace of Dubuque, two daughters, Belinda (Mike) Douglas, of Marietta, GA, Vickie Kuhl of Ocala, Fl, and three sons, Richard (Lori) of Evans, GA, Douglas of Madison, WI, and Scott (Eleanor) of Dubuque; 9 grandchildren,; 10 great-grandchildren; and 12 brothers and sisters, Judy McClain, Charlotte Magnani, Joe Magnani, Bill Magnani, Armond Magnani, Jo Ann Eppert, Frances Frey, Raymond Magnani, Kenneth Magnani, Phyllis Galetich, & Terry Magnani.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Thelma Grant, Alberta Magnani, Esther Shearer, and Dorothy Gordon, 1 brother, Marvin Magnani, and a son-in-law David Kuhl.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association - Greater Iowa Chapter.

The family would like to thank Luther Manor Home Care, Stonehill Care Center and the many caregivers for all the care and kindness given over the past two years.
