RUBY V. CAVANAUGH

Ruby Viola Coghlan Cavanaugh, 86, passed from this life of Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Madrid Home in Madrid, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4, at the Woodward United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Interment took place at the Woodward Cemetery in Woodward.

She was born on June 21, 1924, in Woodward, Iowa, the daughter of James B. and Jennie (Turner) Coghlan. Ruby graduated from Woodward High School in 1941. On November 10, 1943, she was united in marriage in Oakland, CA to Ernest Cavanaugh of Madrid. Their first daughter, Judi, was born in Oakland. Upon Ernest's discharge from the Navy, they moved back to Woodward, where daughter Terri was born. Ruby was employed at the Woodward Resource Center for many years in the special services, canteen and dietary departments, retiring in 1986.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Judi Wills and her husband Barry of Madrid and Terri Danilson and her husband, Richard of Woodward; and grandchildren, Brad Wills of Woodward, Mark Wills and his wife, Carrie of Grimes, Melanie Douglas and her husband, Darren of Madrid, Rebecca Klocke and her husband, Steven of Urbandale, Jennifer Wills and B.J. Pelisek both of Johnston, Melissa Bice and her husband, James of Norwalk, Michael Danilson and his wife, Kristina of Boone and Matthew Danilson and his wife, Kelly of West Des Moines. Surviving her as well are her great-grandchildren, whom she adored: Meghan Johanna and Zoey Renee Wills; Quinn Joseph, Nolan Patrick and Rory Ashlynn Marie Douglas; Nicholas Jacob, Adam John, and Lucas James Klocke; Lauren Elizabeth, Jocelyn Jo, Jamison Drake, and Harrison James Bice; and Jacob Michael and Maggie Rebecca Danilson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Charles Cavanaugh and his wife, Rosemary of Ankeny; sisters-in-law and dear friends, Grace Coghlan and Doris Cavanaugh, both of Woodward; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jennie; husband, Ernest; brothers, James and Charles; and sisters, Clara White and Oma Boden.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Woodward United Methodist Church, Woodward Fire and Rescue Unit or the Woodward Cemetery Association.

The Iles Funeral Homes Brandt Chapel in Woodward assisted the family with arrangements.
