Ogden Reporter, Jan. 7, 2004Funeral services for Harry Eugene Rothfus, 81, Woodward, were Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bouton, with Rev. Ken Ahntholz officiating.
Mr. Rothfus died Thursday, Jan. 1 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Honorary casket bearers were his children and grandchildren. Ushers were Jim Rothfus and Jim Seeman.
"I Can Only Imagine," "On Eagles Wings" and "Just As I Am" were played by organist Cathy Radebaugh.
Harry Rothfus was born Dec. 8, 1922 on a farm west of Woodward, the son of Charles and Christina "Tina" (Meier) Rothfus. After graduating from Woodward High School in 1940, he began farming, starting with 80 acres.
He married Dorothy Grimes Nov. 30, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Harry farmed 51 years and sold Vigortone Ag Products. He enjoyed wood crafting, gardening, fishing, camping at Lost Island, and traveling. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and received the Century Farm Award in 1995.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joyce and her husband Jerry Schleisman of Lake City; two sons, Keith and his wife Donna of Story City and Richard and his wife Karen of Woodward; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Verne.
Interment will be at Peoples Cemetery near Bouton at a later date.
Memorials to the family may be left at Hastings Funeral Home, Perry. Hastings Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
