MRS. BRIGGS WAS FOR 48 YEARS BOONE RESIDENT
Leaves Many Friends and Relatives to Mourn Her Passing
Came to This City with Her Husband
Has Been Active in Church Work, Lodges and other Organizations - One of the Founders of the Hope Mission.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Anna M. Briggs were held in the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon, July 6th, in charge of the Rev. E.A. Seymour, Pastor. Rev. Seymour gave a splendid tribute in motherhood and womanhood as exemplified by a true Christian and spoke very comforting words in applying those qualities to the life of the departed.
The music consisted of a solo by Mrs. Lucy A. McPhersonn at the residence, entitled "No Tears in Paradise", accompanied by Miss Sara Perrine on the piano. At the church a quartette, composed of
Mrs. Clarence Jennings, Miss Elizabeth Patterson, E.E. Ward and Walter A. Spurgeon sang the following favorite selections: "One Sweetly Solemn Thought", "he Knows It All" and "Nearer My God To Thee".
Miss Leland accompanied upon the beautiful new pipe organ.
The floral offerings were very beautiful and profuse.
Burial was made in Linwood Park cemetery in the family lot.
Mrs. Briggs will be missed by a large circle of friends, in the home, the church, the clubs and lodges in which she was a member and worker. The husband and family and the brothers and sisters have the deepest sympathy of the community in their great loss.

Her Life Sketch
Mrs. Anna M. Briggs was born in Valparaiso Ind, July 29, 1855 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bushore.
Mrs. Briggs grew to womanhood in her native state and on January 21, 1872 she was united In marriage to George W. Briggs, and they resided there until the next year, locating in Boone, October 10, 1873 where they have been continuous residents since that time, forty-eight years in all.
Six children have blessed their home, three having preceded the mother in death, Clara, Ida, and Carrie. The three surviving are Mrs. Dan Read and Levi Briggs, of this city and Frank of SLayton, Texas, all of whom were present at the funeral.
Mrs. Briggs has been a member of the Presbyterian church for many years and was on of the first to help start and encourage the work of Hope Mission. She continued her interest in the church work as long as her health would permit.
A few weeks ago her ailment took a turn for the worse and although every effort was put forth to stay the disease and she seemed to be more comfortable for a time, she took suddenly worse Sunday morning, July3 and expired at once. She asked for a drink of water and before it could be given to her, her spirit had departed.
Mrs. Briggs was a true Christian, a loving wife, a devoted mother, a true friend and co-worker, always forgetful of self and solicitous about the comforts of others.
