Arlene Latta, 73, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Madrid, with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Arlene was born in Muscatine, Iowa to Dale and Josie Ellsworth and graduated from Slater High School in 1954. She was married to Charles L. Latta in 1957. They made their home in Slater and later moved to Madrid where they raised their two daughters. Arlene had worked as a waitress at local cafes in Madrid, in the kitchen at Madrid High School and as a mail room clerk at Greyhound and Cigna Insurance in Des Moines.

Arlene enjoyed collecting snowmen, spoiling her grandchildren and granddog and laughing and joking with family and friends.

Arlene is survived by her daughters, Melody (Doug) Murtle of Humboldt and Lori Latta of Madrid; and her grandchildren, Sarah (Brandon) Ford of New Braunfels, TX, Jen (Chris Sinos) Murtle of Omaha and Ross Murtle of Humboldt.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30pm Monday at Iles Funeral Homes Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
