Alice Louise Hutchinson, 99, a resident of the Eastern Star Masonic Home of Boone since 2003, and a lifelong resident of Boone, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home of Boone.

Alice was born on May 19, 1910 in Boone, the daughter of Lou and Rose (Eckley) Myers. She graduated from Boone High School in 1928. Alice then took short courses at Junior College, where she attended night school to study French and Spanish.

Alice married Floyd A. Hutchinson on March 6, 1938 in Boone, Iowa. Alice worked at the Holst Publishing Company for 12 years. She was a stenographer and teller at Boone State Bank & Trust Company for 16 years.

Alice has been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Boone since 1918. She taught Sunday school for 10 1/2 years and had served in the church circles for over 60 years. She was a charter member of W.S.C.S. and served as Treasurer of the PTA. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a member of the Auxiliary of the Order of Railway Conductors and Brakeman. She was a member of the Magi Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 139 of Boone and the White Shrine of Ames. Her hobbies were music (studied both piano and organ), photography, traveling, sewing and computer. Alice and her husband Floyd enjoyed traveling the world together. They spent four winters in Spain and traveled to five continents and over 30 countries.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd, her two brothers, Ralph Myers and Kenneth Myers. Alice is survived by her son, James M. Hutchinson of Johnston, Iowa; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard F. and Rosemary Hutchinson of Ankeny, Iowa; her six grandchildren, Julie Marie Rozeboom (Paul) of Waukee, Iowa; Jody Ann Larson (Gary) of Albion, Iowa; Christopher Louis Hutchinson (Gail) of Ankeny, Iowa; Keith Myers Hutchinson (Chris) of Henderson, Nevada; Jennifer Jean Hutchinson of Henderson, Nevada; Evan James Hutchinson of Madison, Wisconsin; her eight great-grandchildren, Kassidy Hutchinson of Jefferson, Iowa; Kadyn Hutchinson of Jefferson, Iowa; Cortney Breeden of Henderson, Nevada; Alex Breeden of Henderson, Nevada; Andrew Rozeboom of Waukee, Iowa; Jonathan Rozeboom of Waukee, Iowa; Dylan Larson of Albion, Iowa; Zoe Hutchinson of Ankeny, Iowa; her five step grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald L. and Bernadette Myers of Boone, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 20, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel, located at 715 West 3rd Street, in Boone. Rev. Phil Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 19, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel in Boone from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present at this time. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel in Boone from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be given in memory of Alice Louise Hutchinson to the Hospice of Central Iowa in Boone. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.walter-schroederfuneralhome.com. Walter-Schroeder Funeral Home located at 5th and Story Streets in Boone is in charge of the arrangements.
