William Herbert Savonell, born June 22, 1927 died December 30, 2008 in Okeechobee, Florida. He was the son of Charles and Florence Heath.
At the age of 2 he went to live with Carl and Florence Savonell. He attended school in Sioux City, Iowa. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. In 1945 he married Elizabeth Eddy of Boone. He was an auto mechanic for over 30 years working for various auto dealers before opening Bill's Complete Service with his wife. In 1985 they opened The Short Stop on Mamie Eisenhower Ave. He and his wife retired to Florida in 1990.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, the Marine Corps League, the American Legion and the Elks. He loved fishing, hunting, and traveling. He visited all 50 states (at least once) with his wife.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his son, Carl.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of 63 years, children Jo Lindskog (husband Curtis) of California, Mary Savonell of Hawaii, Donna Fitzgerald (husband John) of North Carolina, Beth Christianson (husband Darrell) of Boone, Iowa, William Mark Savonell (wife LaDonna) of Harcourt, Iowa and Phoebe Chamberlain of Massachusetts. He had 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Chuck Eddy of Phoenix and sister in law Mary Wirtz of Boone.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
