Richard L. "Rick" Craven, 58, son of Laverne and Zelma (Fairchild) Craven, was born February 24, 11949 in Boone. He passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at his home, rural Guthrie Center.
He graduated from Boone High School in 1967. He then entered the United States Navy and served in Viet Nam during the Viet Nam War. After his discharge he came back to Boone and started to work for Boone Construction. Rick married Jody Hyatt on August 18, 1972 in Boone. He then worked for Erb Elsner hauling modular hog and cattle buildings and later drove truck for Fareway Stores for 21 years. In 1998, they moved to Guthrie Center at the Bar-L-Ranch. He then worked fro TMC and DMACC at the Driving Institute as a driving instructor. He drove truck for Stumbo Transportation in Ogden until 2006 and he then started driving for Morgan Trucking (Tony and Jeff) in Guthrie Center.
He was a lifetime member of the Boone V.F.W., the Boone Saddle Club, Moose Lodge of Boone and The Guthrie Center Saddle Club.
Rick is survived by his wife Jody of Guthrie Center, children Tanya Craven of Guthrie Center, Jennifer (Craven) Schoff of Boone, four grandchildren, Bailey Craven, Jacob Schoff, Jentry Schoff, Jaxon Schoff, sister Kathy Grabau of Boone, brother Randy Craven of Boone, mother Zelma Craven of Boone. He was preceded in death by his father Verne and a grandson Samuel Schoff.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Bar-L-Ranch, rural Guthrie Center. Visitation will be Friday, January 25, 2008 from 5-8:30 p.m. and Saturday after 10 a.m. at the Bar-L-Ranch.
