Janice Jean Christensen, the daughter of Ralph and Florence (Hagge) Peterson, was born September 29, 1941 at Boone, Iowa. She grew up a farm girl in southern Boone County and graduated from Ogden High School in 1959. Janice also attended college in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Janice married Rex Christensen March 25, 1967, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden.
Janice worked as a bookkeeper in Boone and Ames. She also worked for the Carroll Street Cottage Tea Room in Boone. A devoted homemaker, Janice was also active in the Iowa Pork Producers, was a youth leader and volunteered in the community often. She was as a board member for the Ogden Library for many years and was a 40-year member of the United Methodist Church in Ogden where Janice served on several committees and church circles. Her commitment to her family and friends, church and community, and especially her love for her children and grandchildren was in the heart of all she did.
Janice passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008, at the Ogden Manor at the age of 66 years. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her two sons, Craig Christensen and wife Carol of Ogden and Cory Christensen and wife Jessica of Ogden; her little angels, Margo, Abraham, Katherine, Kimberly, Samuel and Jackson Christensen; two brothers, Kenneth Peterson and wife Hazel of Ogden and Julene Peterson and wife Karen of Ogden and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Ogden with Pastor Paul Evans officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Ogden. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.
