Archie Peterson,age 79 of Boone and the Evangelical Free Church home, Died July 10, 2007 at the home. Funeral services will be Friday July 13,2007 at 11:00 am at the Bethel Church, southwest of Boone with the Rev D. Ray Hoke officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A formal folding and presentation of the American Flag will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council.
Archie was born in rural Ogden Iowa on December 23,1927, the son of Gust and Zelda (Wisecup) Peterson. On Jan 11, 1946, Archie married Emma Jean Anderson in Boone. He served with the United States Army during the Korean War where he received two Bronze Service Stars and a Purple Heart. The couple lived in Marcy township where he farmed and owned and operated Peterson Construction. He later was employed at the Woodward Resource Center in Woodward as a Residential Treatment Supervisor.
Archie was a member of the Bethel Church where he was active in Bible School and the AWANA youth Program. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, traveling with his wife and playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma Jean in 2005, two brothers, Ralph and Howard Peterson and two sisters, Irene Nygren and Gladys Schmidt. Archis is survived by four sons, David and wife Lorraine of West DesMOinese, Jim and wife Kathy, and Scott and wife Debbie all of Ogden. And Tom and Wife Shelley of Perry. Six grandchildren, Mat Peterson and wife Wendi of Woodward, Melisa Roush and husband Troy of Ogden, Josh Peterson of Boone,Thomas Peterson and Michael Peterson Both of Ogden and Jessica Peterson of Jefferson;
and three great grandchildren, Kennedy Hiles and Natasha Peterson both of Ogden and Daven Peterson of Woodward.
Friends may call Thursday at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets from noon until 4:00 pm and then at the Bethel Church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:30-8:00. Visitation continues Friday at the Bethel Church from 10:00 A.M. to service time.Memorials may be given to the AWANA program at Bethel Church. Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets is in charge of arrangements.
