Avenelle Alta Canier, 91, of Boone died of complications from pneumonia Tuesday at Boone County Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stark-Welin Funeral Chapel with burial at Linwood Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Canier lived in Boone all of her life and was a homemaker. She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, PEO, Daughters of the Nile, Boone County Historical Society, Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad and the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Birthplace Foundation.

Survivors include a son, Robert of Boone; seven grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Saturday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
