Ross Bergloff Hammarstedt, 97, Ogden, died Dec. 23 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. today (Jan. 3) at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden, with burial at Maas Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to service time at the church.

He was born in Marcy Township in Boone County on March 11, 1906, to Charles and Hannah (Bergloff) Hammarstedt. He attended Ogden schools and was married to Mildred Paulson on Dec. 21, 1927, in Ogden by the late Pastor A.J. Boehm of Zion Lutheran Church. He was employed by Northern Natural Gas Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1971.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, in April 2003, his parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his children, Dean, of Crystal Lake, Ill.; and Mary Lou of Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Carson Funeral Home of Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.
