Rosemary Ann (Sorenson) Fleming, age 75, of Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, died May 17, 2006, at the Eastern Star Home. Her body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Monday, May 22, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial of her cremains will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Rosemary was born on April 12, 1931, in Boone the daughter of Dennis and Hazel (Brixey) Garland. She graduated from Boone High School in 1948. On November 19, 1949, she married John Sorenson in Boone. John died in 1975. On April 1, 1983, she married Richard Fleming in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple later divorced.
Rosemary was employed as a packer for Allied Van Lines in Boone for 20 years, retiring in 1983. She spent most of her life in Boone, but also lived in Sheridan, Wyoming and Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events, socializing with friends, and family activities.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband John Sorenson, her son, Tom "Red" Sorenson, and 5 brothers, Jim, Lawrence, Dean, Robert, and Tom Garland. She is survived by a son, John Sorenson and fiancee, Erin Beardmore of Boone; a daughter, Debi Barr of Boone; a daughter-in-law, Lucy Sorenson of Boone; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Garland, Marjorie Garland and Lois Garland all of Boone and Vicky Garland of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Angie Davis, Haley Barr, and Joshuha Sorenson, all of Boone and Traci Barr of Ames; three great grandchildren, Brett, Brooke, and Tessah Warrick all of Boone.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Monday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion.
