Louise E. Kimsey, 89, Pilot Mound, heard the music of Angel's wings calling her home Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford.

A memorial service to honor Louise's life was held Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Carson Funeral Home, Ogden with Pastor John Fuller officiating. Burial was in the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Louise Elizabeth Kimsey, the daughter of Charley V. and Della Jane (Muench) Johnson, was born July 3, 1917 on the family farm northeast of Pilot Mound. She was baptized in 1921 in Pilot Mound.

She attended rural schools in Boone County and Pilot Mound Consolidated School.

Louise was united in marriage to Robert W. Bennett in 1934 in Pilot Mound. To this union were born three children, Twila Sue, Connie Lue, and Robert Dean. They later divorced and in 1946 she married John L. Kimsey in Newton. Louise had worked at the Ammunition Plant in Ankeny, Hawkeye Laundry in Boone, as a waitress at McCaskey's Café in Boone, and the Sunset Inn in Ogden. She was also employed by the Pilot Mound Schools, as a cook for 38 years, until retiring. During her time as a cook, Louise enjoyed seeing the students' smiling faces in the lunch line and made sure all the children were served a well-nourished meal . . . all made from scratch.

Louise attended the Pilot Mound Methodist Church and belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an excellent seamstress, making clothing for her children without a pattern, and crocheting and embroidering different items for her home and as gifts. In summer months, she loved her flowers and garden. Canned produce from her garden could always be seen neatly lined up on shelves. Her greatest pastime was listening to music and how she loved to dance, never missing a step. But most of all, she loved to cook and entertain her family and friends.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Twila Sue and her husband James Phipps of Pilot Mound, and Connie Lue and her husband Jim Lacey of Boone; one daughter-in-law, Judy Bennett of Pilot Mound; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant sister, Irene Johnson, and sisters Ferne Lehning and Mabel Anderson; husbands, Robert W. Bennett and John L. Kimsey; one son, Robert D. Bennett;

one son-in-law, Pat McCoy; one great-granddaughter, Angie Anderson; one infant great-grandson, Tony Brian Phipps; and one very special friend, John Berns.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Carson Funeral Home, Ogden, was in charge of arrangements.
