A memorial service for Lyndon "Lyn" Slight, 65, Boone, was held Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 at Augustana Lutheran Church, Boone, with
Rev. Daniel Solomon officiating. Mr. Slight died Thursday, Oct. 12 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.
Lyn Slight was born April 26, 1941 in Camby, Minn., the son of John and Freda (Bremer) Slight.
He graduated from Bagley High School, Bagley, in 1959 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Susan Butler April 8, 1967 at Omaha, Neb. That same year he became a member of the Boone Police Department and served on the department until 2000, retiring with the rank of Captain.
Lyn was recently employed at S & H Motor Company. He enjoyed woodworking and making stained glass projects, was an avid reader, and loved to be with his family and grandchildren.
Lyn was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and various police associations.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael and his wife Brenda Slight and John Slight, all of Boone; one daughter, Tamra Frazier of Boone; seven grandchildren, Maddy, Makenna, Joe, Brett,
Emma and Dianna Slight, and Mollie Frazier, all of Boone; two sisters, Myrna Koopman of Omaha, and Marty Dawson of Mae City; one brother, Jack Slight of Rippey; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Joanne Butler, both of Boone, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister.
The body has been cremated.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery north of Madrid.
Stark-Welin Funeral Directors, Boone, was in charge of arrangements.
