Sally Attey, 91, formerly of Boone, died Sunday evening at Fountain West Health Care Center in West Des Moines, where she had been a resident since August of 2002.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone, with the Rev. Phil Webb officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

She was born Aug. 17, 1913, in Redfield, the daughter of Jesse and Ethel (Dunning) Judson. On Nov. 19, 1943, she married Daniel J. Attey at Baltimore, Md.

Sally was a 1930 graduate of Redfield High School and she attended Simpson College. She was employed at Citizens National Bank in Boone before moving to Cedar Rapids where she worked at Peoples Bank, and later she was a sales associate at Killen's Department Store. In the late 1970s, the couple moved back to Boone to make their home. She enjoyed reading, quilting, playing card games, watching Iowa basketball games and other sports on television.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel in April of 1996, and one son, William Rule. Survivors include a son, James Attey and his wife, Nancy, of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Jennifer Attey and Christine Attey, both of Des Moines, Donna Hirsch of Dallas, Texas, Cathy Bielby of Dallas, Texas, William Rule of California; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Fisher of Boone.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, when the family will be present to greet friends at the chapel from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and also from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone is in charge of the arrangements.
