Sharon June Risdal, 61, Boone, died on Friday at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services have been set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the Eternal Life Mission Church in Luther, with the Rev. Chris Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery south of Madrid.

She was born Mary 24, 1943, in Madrid to Harvey Byron and Lena Fern (Murray) Dickerson. She attended school in Boone. She married Stanley James Risdal on Nov. 24, 1961.

She moved to Boone in the early 1980s from Gilbert. Sharon worked at Iowa State University as a custodial technician for more than 20 years. Her hobbies were garage sales, fishing, camping, growing flowers, gardening, crocheting and reading books. She also enjoyed her miniature Yorkshire terrier, Sweetie Pie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Rick, infant brothers Dickie and Dale, a brother Bill and a sister Connie.

Survivors include three daughters, Christine Reinhart and her husband David of Clinton, Linda Ellrich of Boone, and Beth Risdal and Garry Little of Boone; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Jean Bolt of Stockton, Calif.; two brothers, Melvin (Mel) Dickerson of Boone and Clarence (Pete) Dickerson and his wife Charlene of Jewell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be today at the Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets, Boone, with family present from 5 to 9 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the Eternal Life Mission Church in Luther from 9:30 a.m. to the time of service.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
