Herrald was born on October 5, 1943, in Des Moines, the son of Wesley and Esther (McLaughlin) Herrald.

Herrald was a graduate of Boone High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Iowa State University. He was a freelance make-up artist in the New York City Theatre District where he lived and worked for 35 years.

His mother, Esther Herrald in October of 1963 preceded him in death. Survivors include his father and step-mother, Wesley and Carolyn Herrald of Boone; one brother, Mark Herrald and his wife Vicky, Chandler, Ariz.; one sister, Ann Christiansen and her husband Dennis, Omaha, Nebr.; one niece, Teri Jungblut and her husband Larry, Pleasant Hill; one nephew, William Christiansen, Omaha, Nebr.; two step-nieces, Tiffany Reese, Ankeny, Jami Myers and her husband Trevor, Des Moines; one step-nephew, Scott Jacober of Jensen Beach, Fla., and many more beloved family and friends.

The body was cremated.

Graveside services with interment to follow will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. June 24 at the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Friends may call for a time of sharing 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone.

The family will be present on 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone to greet friends.

Memorials may be given to the Boone Area Humane Society, 228 West 16th Street, Boone, IA 50036 or the Brain Tumor Foundation, 1350 Avenue of the Americas, Suite 1200, New York, NY 10019.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
