Steven Michael Dahlke 1964-2004

Steven Michael Dahlke, 40, Boone, died Thursday, March 11, at Boone County Hospital. Services were Wednesday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, with the Rev. David Polich officiating. Burial was at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

He was born Jan. 9, 1964, in Des Moines, the son of James Edward Dahlke and Roberta Ann (Prindiville) Dahlke. He grew up in Perry and graduated from Perry High School in 1982. He worked for Woodward State Hospital School until his health forced his retirement.

Steven moved to Elgin, Ill., and attended Elgin Community College where he received his associate degree in surgical technology. He lived in Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown Community College in July of 1994 where he received further education in surgical technology. He later moved to Boone where he was living at the time of his death.

He was a social member of the VFW Francis Steele Post 817 in Boone where he enjoyed cooking for functions there. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge 104 in Boone and he had been working with his computer in recent weeks, enjoying learning the inner workings of it. He was a member of the Catholic Church and he loved and lived through his nieces and nephews. He also loved the outdoors, including fishing and camping, and socializing with friends.

He was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 24, 2003; his grandparents Ed Prindiville and Grace and Bud Dahlke; and an aunt and uncle.

Survivors include his mother, Roberta Dahlke of Perry; two brothers, Marty Dahlke of Boone, Mike Dahlke and his wife Tina of Cambridge; half brother James Dahlke of Clive; half sister Darla Dahlke of Carroll; his grandmother, Roberta Prindiville of Kirkland,

Ill.; one aunt; one uncle; six nieces and one nephew; and more relatives and friends.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or Iowa Donor Network, to be left at the funeral home. Hastings Funeral Home in Perry was in charge of the arrangements.
