Susan J. Crouch, 60, Pilot Mound, died Tuesday at Mary Greeley Medical Center from complications of cancer.

Funeral services were held Friday at United Methodist Church in Pilot Mound with the Rev. Jung Kim and the Rev. Terri Lin Elder officiating. Burial was in Pilot Mound Cemetery.

She was born May 25, 1943, in Boone, the daughter of Harold and Beulah (Iles) Anderson. She worked for Homesteaders Insurance, Swift & Company and City State Bank. She married Deck Crouch Nov. 13, 1965, in Pilot Mound. She and her husband established their home in Pilot Mound and she worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, Deck's Service Station.

She was a member of Pilot Mound United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed quilting and helping with the "Together in Christ" youth group. She was also active in many church functions including serving as the financial secretary for several years. She served on the building committees for the new United Methodist Church and for the new Community Building in Pilot Mound. She also helped with the planning of the Pilot Mound Centennial Celebration and was a current member of the Pilot Mound City Council. She was involved in youth activities, including 4-H and Cub Scouts and volunteered her time as a coach for the Grand Community sixth-grade girls' basketball team and Little League softball teams. She was a sports lover and enjoyed bowling and had played slow pitch softball on the team Stix for many years. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Shari Crouch of Algona; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Keith Zalesak of Montgomery, Texas and Jeana and David Gingery of Huxley; one grandson, Colton Zalesak; her mother-in-law, Ferne Crouch of Pilot Mound; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Kathy Anderson of Boone and Mike and Marilyn Anderson of Pilot Mound; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Larry Swanson of Ogden, Joan and Bill Hull of Boone, Jill and Rob Loudon of Boone and Joy and Mike Sihak of Afton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorials may be given to the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church.

Carson and Sons Funeral Home, Ogden, was in charge of arrangements.
