Waneta P. King, 89, of the Ogden Manor Nursing Home in Ogden, and formerly of Boxholm, died Tuesday at the Ogden Manor. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at the Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets, Boone, with the Rev. Dennis Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery of Pilot Mound.

She was born June 22, 1915, in Soap Creek Township near Albia in Davis County, to Cloyd P. and Olive M. (Martz) Paris. She attended school in Fraser.

She married Robert Oliver King June 30, 1933, in the parsonage at Primitive Methodist Church in Fraser. She was a homemaker. She lived most of her life in Fraser, then moved to Boxholm in May of 1997, then moved into the Ogden Manor in September of 2004. She attended the Primitive Methodist Church in Fraser. She enjoyed baseball, football and wrestling and she was a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls fan. She also enjoyed gardening and raising chickens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Robert Eugene King; three sisters, Ruth Victoria Paris, Betty Keeler, Geraldine Woodyard; and four brothers, Larry Dale Paris, Floyd Perle Paris Jr., Billy (William) Lewis Paris and Raymond Paris. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry J. and Janet King of Fraser; a daughter, Carol Lee Stiles of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice Lee and Marvin Patterson of Boone, Patricia and Dean Cassotti of Boone and Judy and Donald Sondall of Boone; a brother-in-law, Bohumir (Bum) Keeler of Estherville; a sister-in-law, Cecilia Paris of Fraser; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday morning at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to the time of service at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.

Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets, is in charge of the arrangements.
