Ward Blair, 82, Ogden, died March 17 at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden, with the Rev. Marty Jacobson officiating. Burial will be at Lake City Cemetery in Lake City. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Ward Blair was born Oct. 2, 1920, at Yetter, Iowa, the son of Frank C. and Nora Catherine (Fahan) Blair. He received his early education in local rural schools. He later attended Dental Technical School while in the Navy as well as serving his country in World War II. After his return from the service, he attended the University of Iowa.

He married Faye J. Springer Jan. 2, 1950, at the Lake City Presbyterian Church. The couple made their home one mile west of Yetter where they farmed until he retired in 1979. In addition to farming, he worked for the Iowa Liquor Commission for 14 years. The couple moved to Lake View in 1983 and then moved to Ogden in 1996 to be near their son.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Faye, of Ogden; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimbal and Lee McCollum of St. Cloud, Wis.; one son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Becky Blair of Ogden; four grandchildren, Eryn and Joshua McCollum and Kathryn and Jeffery Blair; one great-granddaughter, Emma Miller; and two sisters, Thelma Redinius and Frances Johnson, both of Lake City.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Carson Funeral Home of Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.
