Leola Powers, 87, a resident of Ogden Manor and formerly of Boone, died Thursday at the home of respiratory failure. She was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Iowa, the daughter of John and Dulcie (Staley) Powers.

She was a resident of the Woodward State Hospital School, the Boone County Care Facility and Ledges Manor. She was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and her hobbies included participating in her homes' activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, William. Survivors include several cousins and her special friends, Jeanette and Jim Duff of Boone and their children, Judy Duff and John Duff of Arlington, TX and Joe Duff of Ponca City, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, with the Rev. Clem Currans officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel Monday from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
