Mantford T. "Wick" Price, 90, 510 Second St., Boone, died Tuesday at Boone County Hospital of respiratory complications. He was born Dec. 22, 1910, in Boone County, the son of Robert and Adalaid (Young) Price. He married Lyla Good Aug. 28, 1938, in Ogden.

After moving to Boone at an early age, he worked for Munson's Gravel Construction. Following his graduation from Boone High School in 1929, he worked at Nystrom Oil Company until December of 1943, when he entered military service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. After being discharged from the Army, he worked at Nystrom Oil, Carswell Motors and as a custodian at Page School until his retirement in 1976. He and his wife traveled extensively and camped during their retirement years. His hobbies included gardening, supplying relatives and friends with vegetables and taking care of his pets. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Boone. He was a 58-year member of the American Legion, Post No. 56., and the Volunteer Firemans Association. He also volunteered at the Des Moines Veterans Administration Hospital and at the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce caboose through RSVP.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bernice Nelson. Survivors include his wife; one brother, John Price of Boone; one sister, Zoe Ann Anderson of Trenton, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dean Fullerton officiating. Burial with military honors by the Boone Veterans Council will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the funeral chapel from 8 to 11 a.m. and at the church from 11:30 a.m. until time of services.

Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or the Boone Area Humane Society.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone is in charge of arrangements.
