Dorothy Pritchard, 83, 1022 West Second St., Boone, died Saturday at her home of heart failure. She was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Dawson, the daughter of Fred and Myrtle (McCormick) Curry. She married Albert Pritchard Sept. 12, 1936, in Luther.
She attended school in Pilot Mound and Boxholm. In earlier years, she was involved with the P.T.A. and she also was a scout leader. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone and was a member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge No. 104 for more than 50 years. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, baking and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Donald Curry. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Donald (Butch) and Sharon Pritchard of Montezuma, and Thomas Pritchard of Bovey, Minn.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Herb Dittmer, and Mary Jo and Jerry Mentzer, all of Boone, Marjorie and Raymond Sims of Jefferson, and Shirley and Ron Mickelson of Grand Rapids, Minn.; three sisters, Goldie Beach of Ames, Gladys Cushman of Des Moines, and Mildred Lewis of Sedalia, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Augustana Lutheran Church with the Rev. Doug Duin officiating. Burial will be in Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport.
Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, today from noon to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues Wednesday at the funeral chapel from 8 to10 a.m. and at the church from 11:30 a.m. until time of services.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
