Bernice Pruss, 68, Burnsville, Minn., and formerly of Boone, died Monday at the home of her daughter in Burnsville of respiratory failure. She was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Dodge, Neb., the daughter of Anton Sr. and Rosalie (Limbach) Pieper. She married Leonard Pruss July 18, 1949, in Dodge, Neb.
She worked as a cook for Boone County Hospital from 1979 to 1993 and she and her husband owned and operated the former Leonard's Lounge in Boone from 1966 to 1978. Her hobbies included attending her grandchildrens' activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son-in-law, Ira Beck. Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Doris Beck of Mesa, Ariz., Linda Rettig of Burnsville, Minn., and Sue and Dan Dyvig of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; one brother, Ralph Pieper of Madrid; one sister, Iris Lamme of Seagoville, Texas; and five grandchildren, Amy, Joelle, Peter, Danielle, and Michelle.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, with the Rev. Clem Currans officiating. The body has been cremated and burial of the cremains will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel Wednesday until 9 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at the chapel from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be given to the Sacred Heart League.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
