Kathy Boersman-Mendenhall, 21, 327 Tama St., Boone, and formerly of Ogden, died Tuesday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was born June 22, 1959, in Iowa City, the daughter of Junior and Shirley (Fisk) Boersma.
She lived in Boone County all of her life and graduated from Ogden High School in 1988. She attended Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, where she received her certified nurses aide degree. She was employed as a hotel housekeeper at the Country Inn and Suites in Ames. She was a member of the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary. Her hobbies included collecting tins, enjoying the outdoors, dancing, and horses.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Pete Boersma and Myron and Freda Fisk. Survivors include two sons, Carl and Richard Mendenhall of Boone; one daughter, Mary Mendenhall of Boone; her parents of Ogden; her fiance, Brent Shaw of Boone; her grandmonther, Mabel Boersma of Boone; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Community United Methodist Church in Ogden with the Rev. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.
Friends may call at Community United Methodist Church today from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, is in charge of arrangements.
