Ray Bork 1912-2001

Ray Bork, 88, formerly of Ogden and currently of 516 S. Clinton St., Boone, died Friday at Boone County Hospital of congestive heart failure. He was born Nov. 8, 1912, in rural Ogden, the son of Bernhard and Ida (Peterson) Bork. He married June Carlson June 14,1945, in Ogden.

He graduated from Ogden High School in 1931. He began farming following graduation and continued farming until 1976 when he retired. He and his wife moved to Boone in 1987. He was a member of Swede Valley Lutheran Church in Ogden until transferring his membership in 1988 to Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. He was a member of the short wave radio club while living in Ogden and was a former member of R.S.V.P. His hobbies included farming, photography, camping, traveling and nature.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and three sisters. Survivors include his wife; one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Lou Rusin of Minneapolis, MN; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard Bork of Ogden and Les and Lezlie Bork of Minneapolis, MN; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Augustana Lutheran Church with the Rev. Doug Duin officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

No visitation will be held.

Memorials may be given to Augustana Lutheran Church or the Swede Valley Preservation Fund in Ogden.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone is in charge of arrangements.
