Robert E. "Bob" King, 63, Boxholm, died Saturday at his home. He was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Pilot Mound, the son of Robert and Waneta (Paris) King. He married Harriet C. Carlson Aug. 6, 1958, in Pilot Mound.
He attended grade schools in Fraser and graduated from Pilot Mound High School in 1956. He and his wife made their home in Dayton and he was employed at Dayton Feed Store, Lehigh Sewer Pipe & Tile and in the maintenance department for Webster County. In February of 1971, the couple moved to Boxholm and he worked for Oscar Meyer in Perry for many years, then was employed by the Farmer's Co-op in Boxholm. He retired in 2000. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, camping, watching go-kart races and in earlier years, racing stock cars. He also enjoyed beef jerky, and pretzels, spending time with his family and with his pets, Poncho and Buck.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his wife on Nov. 3, 1998. Survivors include one son, Scott King of Boxholm; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Randy Reimers of Ogden; his mother of Boxholm; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Janet King of Fraser; one sister, Carol Stiles of Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren, Reese Reimers of Ogden, Katie Behm of Minnesota and Robbie Southworth of Pilot Mound; his special friend, Barb May of Boxholm; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm with the Rev. Dick Jessen officiating. Burial will be at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Carson Funeral Home of Ogden is in charge of arrangements.
